Enyo Milanov - I\'m Bulgarian, How Can I Be Poor!
2007-01-01, BULGARIA this is ME, too!
He is not into politics and is not even
much into football,
which is quite a rarity in Bulgaria -
a country where almost every other
person is a born
political expert
or so knowledgeable about the game
as to be at least the national
football team\'s coach.
He is simply one of those Bulgarians who always stayed closer to nature and kept their feet firmly planted on the ground
He is convinced that humans don\'t yet know Nature\'s enormous diversity, don\'t understand her language; that a man should be taught to look into nature from his earliest years because we were put on this earth to gather knowledge instead of wasting away the precious time that is measured for each of us.
An ex-military man, he first
dreamt of being given a chance, then used that chance to become a pilot and travel round the world; today Enyo Milanov is a ,,nature collector\" - a famous medicinal herb specialist who has been trying for 30 years to prove to people that medicinal herbs around us are a unique gift and should not be stomped on. He doesn\'t see himself as anyone special but tries to \"read\" the Earth\'s messages - and those of people, naturally.
\"We must not be greedy\" is his philosophy that applies to communicating with nature, but is actually universally valid, too. ,,One has to be careful when picking herbs\',\' the medicine man says. \"Even when you go harvesting, you should be careful not to destroy all the stalks of blooming flowers. When you harvest, use a right measure! It Js the same in life, isn\'t it.
You can\'t treat Nature like a barbarian, log trees, dry up rivers, cover every square inch with buildings, and then, when you see it ailing, to think you\'re alright, nothing\'s wrong.\"
\"I\'m Bulgarian, so how then can I be poor\" the herbalist says. \"Our people are hard-working, and over 3,000 types of herbs grow on our lands. Our plants contain at least 3 times more active substances than those elsewhere in the world.\"
A long time ago, when he fell seriously ill, he wrote his prayer in
enormous letters; ,,My Lord, I only want two things: to see my daughter study in Leningrad to be a ballet dancer, and to pay my loan back to the neighbour\" This is what a Bulgarian is like: first the children, then the neighbour, and then himself. Not all Bulgarians, but the majority, anyway.
Where are Bulgarians today? ,,The Japanese say that it\'s easier to build a city in space than to rule over a nation with no faith. Bulgarians let themselves be easily deceived, they easily fall for, promises, and then feel like deer caught in the headlights.
We have to somehow pull ourselves out of the sludge into which we\'ve fallen, which is drowning us. We should speak openly, so that this nation can open its soul to the cosmic intelligence, to nature. We have to \"grow\" good thoughts, because bad thoughts make us ill. This is a truth nobody can deny. It is my conviction that it\'s better to live perched on a little twig than in a cage, be it made of gold.
All living things believe this. I can see that this world is not run by the people of the purest intentions. Money, money, and money again! Whoever\'s got it, he is master of the situation. But that won\'t be forever and that\'s why we see so many problems all over the world.
They think they\'re above us because they have money, but I can\'t see why a person is grander if his
him keep his money. His set of values is completely different. With a person like that, I can\'t speak. We have no language in common.
What herbal potion would he make for the Europeans? \"We can find good herbs for all ailments, let them just call me and I\'ll pick the right ones, for the European Commission, for the EU. They must have something that ails them.
I would have given them a bunch of Crane\'s Bill, we have it in every Bulgarian house; it is not much to look at, but it is so good for one\'s health that I could never imagine it being called by any other name (the Bulgarian word for \"crane\'s bill\" is \"zdravets\" having the same root as the word for \"health\"). It will positively start growing in the EU, too.
